Will the REAL Jake Ryan please stand up...

Ever since we picked the name Jake Ryan (Jake to stick with our "J" theme, and Ryan in honor of Joel) We have heard many things: "Ohh Jake Ryan after 16 Candles?" or "Oh Jake Ryan from Hannah Montana?"
Nope. Just Jake Ryan...our little bundle!
In ^ that pic...he is in the moby wrap...which he is in now. Momma loves it and so does Jake!!

I can't believe he is 3 weeks old already! He has grown a lot and sleeps 4-5 hour increments during the night. WOO! He is so sweet and I still stare at him and praise God for this blessing!

I got a new flip camera for my birthday and cannot wait to use it. If I were to take vids of Jake now, it would be pretty boring. However, I want to take a video of him crying..because he snorts. I think it is soo adorable lol We'll see if I can capture it ;)

That's all for now. We are doing great over here!!!

Thankful.

Today I am reflecting on things I am thankful for, big or little. So here is few things I came up with (in no particular order):

  • Jake Ryan ( he is 2 weeks and 1 day old..ALREADY!)

  • My new keurig one cup coffee maker

  • My Hubby who works so hard to provide for our family (even in this downpouring rain!)

  • DVR (for those late nights when NOTHING is on TV)

  • My parents and in-laws who help and support us so much.

  • Wonderful friends and family who have brought us dinners- a huge help!

  • The rain- even though I kinda of feel cooped up...but we needed a good rain.
  • Jesus, who came down and saved our lives. Jesus is the reason for the season!!
  • That God gave us a wonderful opportunity to raise this handsome, little boy. (I know, sappy sappy.)

  • Google search-live safer, man.

    Happy Wednesday!!!!!!

Jake is here!!!!!!

My handsome little guy is here!! On December 7th, 2010 at 3:14pm, Jake Ryan entered the world!!! He weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 20 inches long! He has the longest fingers and big feet...which I lov to kiss constantly ;)

I went to the hospital at 12:00pm on the 7th, did the check in..was hooked up to the IV, wore the beautiful scrub hat thing and waited for the Dr. to come.
Of course he was a little late..so at 2:35ish he came and I was wheeled into the OR. The anesthesiologist had to do my spinal 2 times because she put it in the wrong spot the first time. Something you never want to hear is "I thought that felt like that right spot." Ouch. Thanks a lot. Luckily I survived..my lower body went numb..and they started cutting me open. Joel was the cutest thing ever...looking at me, then looking at them cutting, then looking back at me. He was nervous, more that me I think. I thought it was funny that the doctors were talking about golf as they were cutting me, like it was no big deal. I guess that means they were comfortable and confident :) I felt TONS of pressure as they were pushing on my belly to get him out! Joel told me they were pushing really hard. The Dr. said Jake was not even engaged or dropped at all, which made it harder to get him out. When I heard his little cry, I was so anxious to see him!!

The first thing I said was "He is so cute..and so WHITE...and red lips!" I couldn't believe how pale he was!! Hes got a nice tan color now.

After he was out and cleaned up, Jake and Joel were off to the nursery while I was sown up. After that, I was headed to the recovery room (which was an experience in itself). I reallllllllllly wanted to go to my room, see my little guy and family...but I couldn't until I could move my toes, legs and lift my hips. The nurse said "Can you move your toes..?" I said "Yes" and as I looked down..my toes did not move. Sad day. I was told I would be in the receovery room for 2 hours and try and get some sleep. Well, the man next to me had knee surgery and was clearly in pain because he was whisper "someone help me." Kinda freaky. On the other side of me was a man who had back surgery and was moaning. Try and get some sleep huh? Doubt it.

Those 2 hours seemed like FOREVER...but at 7:00pm, I was taken to my room. As my friends and family entered, I was overflowed with comments like "He is so cute" or "He has long fingers and toes"...which was nice to hear..but I wanted to see for myself. I only saw him for those short 5 minutes in the OR! It just figured that the nurse shift changed at 7:30pm...so I still haven't seen my baby boy. At 8:00pm I finally met my little man. I cried, of course. The next few nights in the hospital were fun, frusterating, and full of new experiences. Let me just say that I have to give MAJOR props to L&D nurses...they do and see SO MUCH for the patients.
I got discharged on Friday aftenoon and couldn't wait to come home. I was still in pain, but had pain killers all ready to go! :) My feet were and still are SUPER swollen. The Dr. said its from the Spinal and could last for 4-6 weeks! I tried putting my UGGS on yesterday...but no luck. Looks like I'm stick to flip flops for a while.
Jake is really a GREAT baby (I know i know, all moms say that. I used to roll my eyes when I saw mothers put this saying "Yeah right"..now here I am..lol) He only cries when he is hungry or has a dirty diaper. He is so content and happy (Even though all his pictures looks like he has a frown..ha!)
I now know what it means when people say "When he comes you won't even know how you lived without him." He is so precious and perfect. Its amazing that this little guy came for us. God is good, that is for sure. I look at his little fingers..and lips and praise God for this new creation he has given us. I am so blessed :)
Anyway, thats my story. From here on out expect Jake updates and pictures :)

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow.

As in the day after today.

One more sleep/wake up.

Dec. 7th, 2010.

I know I've said this before, but this pregnancy has flown by. I cannot believe I'll be holding Jake in my arms TOMORROW. It still doesn't seem real. As much as I talk about it, I don't think it will hit me until I can hold the little rascal.

Today I went to pre-admit at Long Beach Memorial, then headed to the bank and grocery store. Luckily I cleaned the house a few days ago so I didn't have to fit that in today.I have to get my clothes together to put them in my hospital bag, my flip video camera is charged, my regular camera is ready to go, ipod and speakers are ready....I think I'm set. As ready as I'll ever be!

Last night I broke down for about an hour thinking about how it will no longer be just Joel and I. I've heard this is normal (at least I hope so!). I have had so much fun with Joel these past 3 years of being married and I know our relationship will only grow with Jake in our lives (yes, I'm tearing up right now in case you wondered). God has blessed Joel and I with an amazing family, friends, a beautiful house...now the opportunity to be parents to this little baby. GAH! Ok..moving on! (as I wipe a tear away!)

Here is a pic of us...our last Thanksgiving as a family of 2!

We will see if I sleep tonight, but I think I probably will. I slept great the day before my wedding. I have to eat a light breakfast before 6am (there goes my plan of sleeping in) then I cannot have anything to eat or drink until after my surgery at 2. My mom and I have appointments for manis/pedis at 9, so that will be nice and relaxing!

I want to say thanks to everyone who reads this or who posts things on my facebook. I'm sure I've said some stupid things and have been repetitive I know this whole pregnancy thing is not as important to anyone besides me, but thanks for the encouragement and support.

So here is to tomorrow.

Here goes nothing. :)

Less than a week!

For those of you who haven't heard, I will be delivering via C-section December 7, 2010, at 2:00pm!! EEK! :)
(This is on the island in our kitchen...just in case we forget haha.)

In less than week I will be holding my little, Jake Ryan!!

So unreal.

I am very anxious, nervous, excited, scared, overjoyed and too many other emotions to list. I was laying in bed last night thinking, "Jenalee, go to sleep. Ne
xt week at this time you probably won't be sleeping at all!" Great pep talk to myself. lol

As I prepare for Jakes arrival, I find myself buying things I NEVER imagined or even thought of buying before being pregnant. Oh the things people never tell you. I won't go into detail for the sake of those who do not want to read..but its
amazing the things you learn.

One thing I WILL miss in my baby bump. This will be the only time I can take pictures of myself looking ridiculous holding my cell phone taking a belly pic. This is the only time my belly will be hard and I have an excuse to have it sticking out. lol

Speaking of bellies..here are some belly comparison shots. First one...7 weeks...next one...38 weeks, 3 days! CRAZY!

As far as surveys go, this maybe be my last one!!!!! Bitter sweet. I liked filling these things out, but that just means my posts will be MORE exciting! woo!
