Best of Me

How do I put to words what I'm feeling?
I know its so cliche. So overjoyed that I could hit the
ceiling, hope it always stays this way.

Because you get me, you never let me forget
why I waited so long to see if you'd come around
because when I'm with you I can't stop laughing
and people keep asking why I'm so happy...
So I tell them you bring out the best in me.

sad.

"What about the plans that you left behind?
The little white house by the railway line, the one we picked out.
We even put the payment down.
What about the promise that you made to stay with me til your dying days
Said you’d never go away
Well they’re just things that people say."

-lady antebellum.

I love this song, although it is very depressing. I just came on my ipod shuffle...so I thought id write about it. It has such a nice beat, and you can relate to the words. I find the lyrics so sad. This poor man's significant other just bailed. It sounded like they were married and she just left. Everyone is checking in on him making sure hes ok. To me, it seems like he is totally giving up on what people say.

Theses days, people throw out the word "love" like its nobodies business (and I am guilty of this too). "I looove this song" or "I love my new pair of jeans." This is fine and dandy, but when it comes to a marriage its something totally different. Do we really want to live and be in a society where "for better or worse, rich or for poor, in sickness and in health, till death do us part" is thrown around so casually? I mean, this is the real deal. No give backies (as my 2nd graders say)

We don't want be examples of this lady a song "they're just things that people say."We need to be people of our word. If we say something, we need to stick to it.

I guess that's all I wanted to say.

Tomorrow...

Like brother, like sister :)

Tomorrow my older brother, Jace, is getting married. I am so so so sooo happy for him. I am so close with my brother and I love him so much. I know he is always there for me and I really don't know what I'd do without him. I am pretty picky with Jace, since he was the only man (besides my dad) in my life for 20 years, but his wife-to-be, Sasha, is perfect for him. :)

Congrats you two!!! Love you both!!!

Movin' on up!

The big weekend is finally here...move in weekend! Yay! We have been working on this house constantly for the past few weeks(fyi- when I saw "we" it's more Joel than I...but hey, I helped too!)
Here are some things we have done before the move:

  • Scraped all ceilings
  • Removed all pre-existing door casings and moldings
  • Textured the walls and ceilings
  • Undercoated the inside of the house
  • Demo-ed the kitchen and extended the soffits to make kitchen bigger
  • Cut a opening in wall of the living room/dining room
  • Tore down enclosed patio
  • Can lights in kitchen, dining room and living room
  • New windows
  • New interior doors
  • New door casings,crown molding & baseboards
  • New hardwood floor
  • New carpet
  • Wainscoting in 1 room
  • New closet doors
  • Paint
  • New stair railing
  • new light fixtures
  • New bathroom cabinet/sink and medicine cabinet
  • Power washed the front of the house (which still needs some help lol)
Here are some major things that we still need to do/or are waiting for:
  • Kitchen (cabinets installed on Monday..woo!)
  • Flooring in kitchen and dining room (Wed or Thurs)
  • Granite (coming to measure on Thurs..installed a few days later)
  • Install appliances
There is still way more to do, but those are just some of the things on our list!

Yesterday we were planning on only taking a few things over...and moving most of the stuff today. Well, once the ball hit the ground, we had almost everything moved. Today we need to move a few big things and a handful of little things, then we will be set! It already feels so "homey."
It was kind of sad packing up our little rental house. We lived there for almost 3 years, but I know we will make tons of memories in this new house!

I plan on posting before/during/after pics on here soon. Here is a sneak peak of our TV cabinet that we re-vamped!

Before: @ the store ("I got it at Ross"-what a deal!)

After: A little white paint, new knobs, and in our living room waiting for the TV!

In less than a week I'll be on spring break for a week, with a new kitchen, ready to organize and clean!

Check back soon for more updates!!
