"What about the plans that you left behind?
The little white house by the railway line, the one we picked out.
We even put the payment down.
What about the promise that you made to stay with me til your dying days
Said you’d never go away
Well they’re just things that people say."

I love this song, although it is very depressing. I just came on my ipod shuffle...so I thought id write about it. It has such a nice beat, and you can relate to the words. I find the lyrics so sad. This poor man's significant other just bailed. It sounded like they were married and she just left. Everyone is checking in on him making sure hes ok. To me, it seems like he is totally giving up on what people say.
Theses days, people throw out the word "love" like its nobodies business (and I am guilty of this too). "I looove this song" or "I love my new pair of jeans." This is fine and dandy, but when it comes to a marriage its something totally different. Do we really want to live and be in a society where "for better or worse, rich or for poor, in sickness and in health, till death do us part" is thrown around so casually? I mean, this is the real deal. No give backies (as my 2nd graders say)
We don't want be examples of this lady a song "they're just things that people say."We need to be people of our word. If we say something, we need to stick to it.
I guess that's all I wanted to say.
