I told you guys I would write a blog about the craziness that happened this morning, so here it is. (I just got down at work and am pretty much calmed down so I can explain atll the deets!)
Some background info: 2 weeks ago, Joel came home from work at about 1:30pm and the kitchen window screen was off..and the bathroom window screen door was pryed open. We called the police and they took a report...took fingerprints...and thats it. freaky right?
Now today:
I woke up like normal...5:36..took a shower, got ready, ate breakfast, then waited for Jake to get up.
When I heard the munchkin at around 6:35am, I got him...then went change his diaper....when the door bell rang.
In my head I was like, "Who the heck is ringing my bell at 6:45!" Knowning that if it was one of my family members they would be calling...I looked through my front blinds at the door. I see a 20ish year old girl. I didn't recognize her or her red, 2door car across the street. Keeping Jake quiet...I decided not to answer the door. I kept looking through the blinds to see if she was going to ring again or leave. I saw her leave...walk to her car and get in. I thought she left in her car.
I go to make Jake a bottle, sit on the couch and call Joel. I was just telling him about this RANDOM girl who came to our door and how werid it was. As I was feeding Jake, I decided to just double check if the car was gone. To my surprise, the car was back (or still there.)
weird.
I was still on the phone with Joel saying how werid and random this girl was when I start to hear banging and noises at the sliding glass door. HOLY CRAP. Someone is trying to break it! Joel told me to call 911, so as I was holding jake and his bottle in his mouth, I go toward the screen door, open the curtian and BAM...there are 2 black guys standing in front of me with tools in their hands trying to open my sliding glass door.
Right when I pulled the curtian, one guy when to the left, the other to the right. After the ran, I quickly went to the front windows and looked out to see them running down the street, and the car following them.
I then callled 911 and was balling because I'm so freaked out.
The cops came...took a report and the fingerpring lady came too.
HOW CRAZY IS THAT?????
So that freaking girl came to my door to see if i was home so her firends could break in! WHO DOES THAT??? urgh.
I just wonder what she would have done/said/asked if I HAD opened the door.
Also, I was thinking I should have called the cops before opening the curtian, then they might have caught them.
Oh well. I could go on with a bunch of shoulda, woulda, coulda.
I must say, that was the scariest moment of my life. I'm so thankful they didn't get in and Jake and I are safe.
So there it is. Crazy stuff.

OMG!!! How scary!! I'm so glad they weren't armed!! I'm so glad you guys are all ok!!
Holy crap... I read that earlier and have been thinking about it all day... yes, the shoulda, woulda's are normal hindsight but next time 911 first and then freak them out and head into your garage... but trust me, call 911 and say THEY ARE BREAKING INTO MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW absolutely would have brought down the wrath of armed warriors..
We had it happen to us 5 years ago.. came home to upside down downstairs as I entered the house like normal, startled, I crept outside and called it in just as above.. within 3 minutes I was surrounded by 12 screaming to a stop cars and a helicopter above.. but the burglars had left already.. Greg had been home all day, gone from the house 30 minutes at 3:00 pm and then I came home from work.. so we were being watched or it was our daffy neighbor (our #1 suspect).. but they made a huge mess in that short amount of time top to bottom and got some stuff/junk.
It was tough for a couple months to let your guard down coming and going...
Be strong friend and fight the fear.. Pray Jesus all around your house.. I will pray that also for your family
Oh my goodness! This story just gave me chills!! You are so brave I would have locked myself in the bathroom or something and that would have been more dangerous!! I am glad you and your little guy are safe!
I had a summer sales man come to my door I was polite but made it clear I wasn't interested before I could shut the door he stopped it with his hand and asked for some water. Like a dummy I went to get it for him....Then he just came in uninvited. I gave him the water and asked him to leave. 10 minutes later he came back pounding on my door....and then finally walked around my house and left....I about had a heart attack. What happened to you is about a million times worse. I am such a scaredy cat I am not sure I would ever get over that if I opened up the blinds and saw two men right there!
I will send prayers your way!
